DroneWise: The Tech Arm of the One Million Trees Challenge
DroneWise is the technology-driven solution for achieving the One Million Trees Challenge. It's a pioneering climate-tech initiative using drones and artificial intelligence to restore Nepal’s forests at a scale and speed that manual planting cannot match. This is how we tackle mass reforestation in hard-to-reach areas.
Why DroneWise?
Nepal is losing forests at an alarming rate—over 52,000 hectares vanish each year due to fire, overgrazing, and unsustainable land use. Manual reforestation can’t keep up, especially in hard-to-reach hills and mountains. The result: increased landslides, biodiversity loss, and climate vulnerability. DroneWise changes the game by using technology to overcome these challenges.
How DroneWise Works
Using LiDAR, NDVI, and satellite data, we identify degraded land, analyze soil and climate, and select the best species for each site.
Local women’s groups and forest user groups collect seeds and create biodegradable seed pods, customized for each microclimate.
Trained Nepali drone operators fly missions, dropping 10,000+ pods per day. AI-powered monitoring tracks germination, survival, and canopy growth.
Local youth monitor regrowth, report data, and help adapt strategies for even better results.
Increase the speed and scale of reforestation projects.
Reduce costs and improve accuracy in environmental monitoring.
Foster a harmonious relationship between technology and nature.
Build a global team of trained drone operators to scale reforestation efforts worldwide.
Our Strategic Models
We have developed detailed operational models to suit different partnership needs. These are available upon request for serious collaborators.
A for-profit framework focused on carbon credits, sustainable timber, and creating green jobs through large-scale commercial reforestation.
A research-oriented approach for academic collaboration, offering students hands-on experience in climate-tech and environmental science.
A community-driven, not-for-profit strategy empowering local groups and NGOs to restore community forests and public lands.
